The MHIL set of resistance bands, known also as booty bands (distinguishing them from other kinds of exercise bands), is something I, as a pretty fit man, have found to be an effective addition to my at home workout repertoire. It comes in five levels of resistance, and while the “Extra Light” pink one is indeed really light for me (I use it, and for the most part the “Light” purple one too, only for warm-ups), once you get up to the green third one “Medium” the increased effort required is really noticeable; then there’s the “Heavy” grey which gets quite difficult, and I hardly have used the highest black one, “Extra Heavy”, at all as it’s so tough. I’m not a big guy at 5’4” and around 110 lb—maybe another person won’t really be much challenged until the highest level and then not as much. But outside large men or experienced athletes, I can’t imagine many would find these too weak. They do a good job not slipping much against skin or most fabrics, though for certain exercises if you’re wearing certain kinds of pants you may need to readjust every so often. I think I’ve had some minor stretching on a few of the bands, but after over a year of use nothing that’s affecting the performance in any fundamental way. Overall, they seem exceptionally sturdy, and not anything I’ll need to replace anytime soon.
There may be a perception that these are exercise implements especially designed for ladies. But they offer a quite wide variety of potential exercises that can benefit all sexes, standing or lying down, some with the band wrapped around the thighs while others with it around the calves: squats, lunges, backwards or lateral leg raises, glute bridges etc. It comes with a card showing some moves, and offers additional downloadable material, but I think your best bet would be finding instructional videos online. And they’re certain not all focusing entirely or even mainly on the glutes. For me it’s another part my easy-to-transport workout equipment, and for its convenience and versatility it has quickly become one of my favorite.
